Website companion and receptionist

A receptionist for your website and your phone

Camlin Companion answers your phone and talks to the people on your website, day and night. It answers from your own pages, in a face and a voice you choose. It puts callers through to you and takes messages. On your website it starts talking in under two seconds. It costs less than a part-time hire, and there is a free trial, with no card.

Answers the phone from the same knowledge.

How it works

One receptionist for your website and your phone

It reads your website, then answers from it everywhere: in the corner of your site and on the phone. Think of a receptionist who has read every page and never goes home.

Answers questions on your website

Visitors type or talk to it. A 3D character answers out loud, from what your own pages say. It will not make up a price, an opening hour or a service you do not offer.

Takes the enquiry and puts them through

It takes the visitor’s details and can put them through to you on the phone, with a note of what they asked, so you do not start from scratch.

Answers your phone

On Front Desk + Phone, a Camlin phone number answers calls as your receptionist, using the same information as your website. Forward your line to it after hours, or all day.

Tells you what happened

Ring your avatar and ask who enquired, what it could not answer and who needs a call back. See what visitors asked on the site and where they got stuck.

Up and running in three steps

  1. Send us your website address

Use the form on this page. We read your pages and build the receptionist’s knowledge from them. Nothing on your site changes.

  2. Add one line to your site

We give you one line of code. Whoever looks after your website can add it. Add Phone and we give you a number to forward your line to.

  3. It starts answering as your business

Visitors ask, callers ring, and it answers from your pages. You can try it on the free trial, within its usage limits, before you decide.

Automated receptionist

It answers every call the way your best receptionist would

A Camlin phone number answers as your business, using the same knowledge as your website. It is part of Front Desk + Phone.

A call, step by step1. The phone rings: Your Camlin number, or your own line forwarded to it. Day or night. 2. It greets them: As your business, in the voice you chose. 3. It understands: They say what they need in their own words. 4. It answers: Hours, services, prices, from your own pages. It will not make one up. When they need more than an answer, it does one of these. Puts them through: In your business hours, to the number you choose. Takes a message: Name, number and what they need, emailed to you. Texts a link: A menu on their phone screen. US and Canadian callers are asked first.1The phone ringsYour Camlin number, oryour own line forwardedto it. When a caller needs more than an answer, it puts them through, takes a message, or texts them a link to carry on from their phone screen.
  • Answers day and night

Nights, weekends and public holidays, in the same calm voice. Forward your line to it after hours, or all day.

  • Understands what they want

Callers say what they need in their own words. It works out whether to answer, put them through or take a message.

  • Answers from your business

Your hours, services and policies, from your own website. It will not make up a price or a service you do not offer.

  • Puts callers through

In your business hours it transfers the call to the number you choose: your mobile, your front desk or your team.

  • Takes messages

Out of hours it takes their name, number and what they need, and emails it to you so you can call them back.

  • Texts a link, with a yes

It can text a link to a menu on the caller’s phone screen (Visual IVR) to carry on there. US and Canadian callers are asked first.

  • A face and a voice you choose

Australian, American, British or Irish English voices. On a screen, its lips move in time with its words.

  • Ring your avatar

Call it yourself and ask who rang, what they wanted and who needs a call back. Included on Front Desk + Phone.

Website companion

A companion on your website that talks back

A 3D character in the corner of your site. Visitors talk or type, it answers out loud from what your pages say, and it hands over to you when they are ready.

How the website companion answers1. A visitor asks (Voice or text): On any page. It knows which page they are on. 2. It hears them (Camlin ASR): Our own engine, on a GPU. It falls back to standard servers. 3. It looks it up (Your knowledge): In what it read on your site. Re-read it from the console any time. 4. It writes the answer (Your pages only): Short, to be spoken. If your site does not say, it says so. 5. It speaks (First words in 1.2 s): Sentence by sentence. Voice and lips come from one step, so they match.1Voice or textA visitor asksOn any page. It knowswhich page they are on.2Camlin ASRIt hears themOur own engine, on aGPU. It starts speaking the first sentence while it writes the next, and each sentence's voice and lip movements are made together, so the face never drifts from the words.
  • Talks out loud, with a face

A 3D character answers in a real voice. Its lips match every word, because the voice and the mouth are made in the same step.

  • Starts talking quickly

It speaks the first sentence while it writes the rest. First words in about 1.2 seconds.

  • Hears them clearly

Camlin ASR, our own speech engine, built on open model weights and run on a dedicated GPU. If the GPU is unavailable, standard servers take over.

  • Knows your site

It reads your pages and your sitemap. When your site changes, re-read it from the Companion console. This site’s Companion re-reads it every night.

  • Knows the page they are on

It knows which page the visitor is reading, so its answers fit what they are looking at.

  • Asks first

Nothing loads and nothing is recorded until the visitor clicks. It offers help at most once per page.

  • Hands over to you

It takes the visitor’s details and can put them through to you on the phone, with a note of what they asked.

  • Tells you what was asked

See what visitors asked, what it could not answer and where they got stuck, so you know what to add to your site.

When a person should take over

It knows when to hand over, and it hands over with the details, so nobody starts from scratch.

Handing over to a person1. They need a person: A caller asks for you, or it cannot help. 2. It checks your hours: The hours you set, in your own time zone. Your visitors and your data

Your data is kept in Australia. Here is what a visitor agrees to, and where each part of a conversation goes.

Every answer comes from your own pages. If your site does not cover a question, it says so and gives the visitor your contact details.
US and Canadian callers say yes first
Before it texts a +1 number it asks, word for word, and sends nothing unless the caller says yes or presses 1.
Your site stays yours

FAQ

Questions people ask

What does it cost?

There is a free trial on your own website, with no card and with usage limits: up to 200 replies and about 15 voice minutes a month on your website, from up to 25 pages. Front Desk is A$495 founding price for early customers (standard list A$795; we will tell you before the founding price changes) and is website only. Front Desk + Phone is A$995 a month and includes 400 inbound phone minutes, then $0.25 per minute. Estate is for one business with many sites or venues and starts from A$2,500 a month.

Do I need a new website?

No. The Companion is one line of code added to the website you already have. Nothing else on your site changes. Take the line out and the Companion is gone.

What does it say when it does not know the answer?

It says so. Every answer comes from your own web pages, so it will not make up a price, a policy or a service you do not offer. If your site does not cover a question, it gives the visitor your contact details.

Can it answer my phone?

Yes, on Front Desk + Phone. A Camlin phone number answers calls as your receptionist, using the same information as your website. You can ring the same number yourself and ask who enquired and who needs a call back. The first live reception call was on 8 August 2026.

How fast does it answer?

In our tests in October 2026 it started speaking about 1.2 seconds after a typed question, measured on this site in Sydney. It speaks the first sentence while it writes the rest, so there is no long pause before it talks.

Can it put a caller through to a person?

Yes. During your business hours it transfers the call to the number you choose. Outside your hours it takes their name, number and what they need, and emails it to you. On your website it takes the visitor’s details and can put them through to you on the phone.

Will it send my callers text messages?

Only when your call flow uses one: a link to a menu on their phone screen, or a confirmation. Callers on US and Canadian numbers are asked first, word for word, and get a text only if they say yes or press 1.

Where is my data kept?

Conversations, your site’s knowledge and your account are kept in Australia, on AWS in Sydney. Camlin Speech in Sydney turns speech into text and does not store the audio. Our voice provider in Singapore turns each spoken reply into speech. Some of our AI model providers process messages in the United States. The privacy policy has the details.

Who sets it up?

We do, with you. Send us your website address. We read your pages, set up the receptionist and give you one line of code for your site. Whoever looks after your website can add it.

What do my visitors agree to?

Nothing happens until a visitor clicks to accept. The Companion asks at most once per page and twice per visit, then stays quiet for a week if they say no. Conversations are kept for 30 days by default. The Nuamedia privacy policy at nuamedia.com.au/privacy applies.

How do I start?
